What is a Gradient Canvas?

We are developing an AR community art project, which we call “Gradient Canvas”. In the physical world, the canvas is empty, featuring the following text: “This is not a painting”. A small reference to Rene Magritte and his painting of “this is not a pipe”. Next to the frame there will be a QR code that will allow users to scan with their phone and download a (free) application of the Gradient Canvas. Once in the application, they will be able to see a virtual painting superimposed on the white canvas and perfectly blending and fitting within the picture frame.
